Support and Referral Update
17th September 2026
Our referral pathway and support group are temporarily paused
Due to unprecedented demand for our services, and our current capacity to safely respond, Surviving Universal UK has temporarily paused all new support referrals and our support group.
We know it can take enormous courage to ask for help. We are truly sorry that we cannot currently offer new appointments, referrals or group spaces.
We have made this decision because we will not ask people to share deeply personal experiences and then leave them waiting without a safe, timely response.
Protecting survivor wellbeing and the quality of our support must come first.
If you have already submitted a referral, your enquiry has been recorded. We are unable to provide a timeframe for a response, but please do not submit a further referral, as this will not speed up the process. Current SUUK support-group members will receive a separate update directly.
Don't forget that we have created the Exit Kit, which contains useful information and insight, if you are looking to leave a high control group. Click on the button below to read or download
If you need urgent help
Please note that Surviving Universal UK is not an emergency service.
If you or somebody else is in immediate danger, at risk of serious harm, or unable to stay safe, call 999 or go to your nearest A&E department.
If you need urgent mental-health support, call NHS 111 and select the mental-health option. You can also access support online at 111.nhs.uk. The service can help you find the right local support.
If you are under 19, you can contact Childline free on 0800 1111, or speak to a counsellor online.
Other specialist support
While SUUK’s support group is on hold, we are pleased to signpost family members, friends and others affected by cultic or exploitative groups to
The Family Survival Trust.
Their online support group offers a confidential, psycho-educational space for people supporting somebody affected by a cult or high-control group. To find out more or request to join, visit The Family Survival Trust Support Group or email supportgroup@thefamilysurvivaltrust.org.
Thank you for your understanding.
We will update this page when we are able to safely reopen referrals and group support.
