IT'S TIME TO ACT ON SPIRITUAL AND CULTIC ABUSE
We are calling on the UK Government to commission the UK's first national call for evidence into spiritual and cultic abuse.
Survivors are experiencing coercion, exploitation and abuse within religious, spiritual and other high-control environments across the UK.
Yet these harms remain dangerously overlooked within our safeguarding response.
Now, we are asking the Government to act.
ONE CLEAR FIRST STEP
We are calling on the UK Government to commission a national call for evidence into spiritual and cultic abuse.
A national call for evidence would give victims and survivors, specialist organisations, safeguarding professionals, statutory agencies, regulators and disproportionately affected communities the opportunity to show Government what is happening, where current systems are falling short, and what needs to change.
Our 2025 survivor-led research, Fear & Control, found:
91.5%
said children were involved in their group.
89.8%
reported that the group they were involved with is still active.
55.9%
reported Black communities being disproportionately targeted.
The evidence warrants national attention. Now we are asking Government to listen.
