Richard Scorer

Richard Scorer is Head of Abuse Law and Public Inquiries at Slater and Gordon Lawyers (UK). He has over 30 years’ experience of representing victims and survivors of abuse, and has particular expertise in cases involving abuse in religious organisations and settings. One of the UK’s leading lawyers in this field, he is ranked as a Band-1 ‘Leader’ in Chambers Legal Guide, and as a ‘Leading Partner’ in Legal 500.    

 

He represented the largest group of victims and survivors at the Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse (IICSA) between 2015 and 2022. He is also the author of Betrayed: The English Catholic Church and the Sex Abuse Crisis, published by Biteback Books in 2014, and has written, spoken and broadcast widely on abuse law and in support of legal reforms such as mandatory reporting.

His legal perspective will be especially valuable as we campaign for stronger protections in law.
